Wilderness National Park

The 2,500 hectare Park (approx. 20 mins away) stretches from the mouth of the Trouw River to Sedgefiel. Many walking routes, some less difficult can be enjoyed here. At the mouth of the river and in the lakes behind the Laguna (a mix of fresh and salt water) are many different flowers and vegetation to be found. Many birds can be spotted here either by a walk or ride in a canoe.

Goukamma Nature Reserve

The mouth of the Goukamma River and Buffalo Bay (approx. 30 min. Drive) lie in an unspoilt, pristine landscape. There is no hustle and bustle here. You can swim, do a beach walk or look for shells. Or simply "let your mind wander".

Knysna

The Pearl of the Garden Route (approx. 45 mins away) is a very lively town with many tourists. Kynsa survives from their Oysters, tourism and their wood industry. A wonderful place on a 20 sq m bay, that flows to the Indian Ocean through a very narrowstream, flanked by the 'Heads of Kynsa' The 'Waterfront Kynsa Quays' with its small shops and Restaurants directly on the waterfront always invites a small walk. Many boat excursions are possible from here too, elephant lovers can visit the Kynsa Elephant Park close to the town.

Oudtshoorn

The Ostrich metropolis of the world (approx. 50 mins away)
A brilliant drive over the Outeniqua Mountains in the semi desert of Small Karoo. Here you experience the African vegetation. Make a Stop now and again and marvel at the dream panorama. In Oudtshoorn you must visit the Ostrich farm, the oldest in the world and well known farm is the Highgate Ostrich farm. Great Tour!
A few kilometers outside of Oudtshoorn are the famous Cango Caves, a must see!
On the road from Oudtshoorn to Cango Caves on the leftside is the Cango Wildlife Ranch, to be recommended. Further on from the Cango Caves is the Swartberg Pass, a National Monument. The drive over the Pass is very challenging for the driver but well worth it, a spectacular view to say the least! On the otherside of the Pass you are in the green Oase Price Albert and in another world.
Tip: The best Ostrich handbags and accessories are to be found in Oudtshoorn in 'Klein Karoo Ostrich Boutique'.

Whale watching
